Well, it's been pretty painless so far. SO FAR.
After five years with iPower.com as my web-host, I just switched companies to dot5hosting.com. And it seems to be a good fit!
(Incidentally, it turns out that Meghan Newell, who originally referred me to iPower as hosts, also left the company a while ago. Her site with them went down and they couldn't fix it... so she switched over to Dreamhosts.)
The problem with iPower was that, for the last couple of months, their SQL servers have been tortuously slow. They claim they need to and are upgrading them... but they couldn't give me a timeline. And, seeing as I couldn't post -- much less anyone else -- to my own blog, I figured it was a problem.
So I've moved. Unfortunately, my domain names are still registered through them, so it's not a clean break. I may have to work on that. And, for the time being, I've had to set up some pretty wonky domain pointers until the domains are properly registered with dot5hosting.com.
