Hey all;

The first wave of invites are away (pictures forthcoming).  If you're interested in coordinating rooms or car rentals, you can comment here on the blog or email me and I'll put you in contact.

Calligraphy...

|

So we're working on our invites for the wedding.  And what could be better than getting those invites in hand-written calligraphy?  How about getting it absolutely free?

We were, and still are in a way, going to use the good 'ol computer to print up the invites.  So I downloaded a bunch of fonts to try out.  They look good, but... it's just so computer-y.  The letters aren't connected, and there's no nuance to the text.  So I thought, well, I'll just call a few calligraphy companies.  How much can it cost them to write ONE invite?  We can then take that one invite, scan it into the computer and print it out on the invites.

Well, it turns out that one invite (called a template), costs upwards of $250 dollars.  F that.

We went out this weekend and I bought a calligraphy set.  The example above is from my first attempt ever to write in calligraphy.  It's not easy, but it's not impossible.  And I only have to do it perfect once.  It's not like I'm hand-writing each envelope... yet.

The website is now back up...

Okay everyone, not that you may have noticed, but we've had some difficulties with the web site recently.  However, I'm happy to report that everything is back up and appears to be working fine for the moment.

Quick wedding update:
We have booked a priest.  I would have written a longer entry on this, but well... see the above note.  In any case, this means that we now have representatives from both the Jewish side of the aisle and the Catholic.  I'll blog about the lucky Jew in another entry.

ALSO... look for invites soon.  This means you, people who have already received a magnet.
